Tuareg Jewelery
Tuareg are a mythic nomad people living in the Sahara region.
Of Berber origins, camel raisers, brave, fierce warriors against the invaders, the Tuaregs form a vast community which spreads from Morocco to Egypt.
During the centuries this people has always kept its traditions, including a peculiar alphabet and language.
The people are traditionally nomad, living in Sahara from oasis to oasis and in villages in the mountains.
They have kept most of their traditions, including some very interesting artisan working.
In particular Tuareg jewelry is peculiar.
The Tuareg women have fear of gold, and they have traditionally developed jewelry typically in silver and silver leagues with nikel.
Most of the Tuareg jewels are very simple but at the same time very symbolic and exotic: they have particular shapes and have simple incisions with symbols typical of the region, the tribe or the area where they come from.
One of the most
interesting objects of the area are the crosses, called southern crosses or Tuareg crosses
or Sahara crosses.
Every region/area
has a typical cross and you can distinguish a Tuareg from the cross he has.
Traditionally these crosses were passed from father to son. The cross terminations mean the four directions in the space ( North, South, East, West ) meaning the freedom of this people .
All the jewels we offer here are completely
hand made, in Nickel league.
For this reason the object you will receive might be slightly different from the picture.
All the crosses have a lace with glass black pearls with Nickel league ornaments and an original hand made closure.
Every object is peculiar and unique.
